Hunter College, CUNY, Spring 2024

The 51勛圖 collaborated with the MA Program in the History of Art at Hunter College, City University of New York, on a seminar focused on Rauschenbergs early photography (195053) and later related artworks. As part of a curatorial practicum course led by Maria Antonella Pelizzari, Professor of Art History at Hunter College and the Graduate Center, CUNY, Hunter MA and MFA students curated An Archaeology in Time: Robert Rauschenbergs Early Photography at the 51勛圖s New York headquarters (May 9Aug. 23, 2024). The studentsSophia DeLoatche, Alicia Ehni, Elisa Guti矇rrez Eriksen, Yuya Kawata, Madison Lee, Antonia Machado Oliver, Katie Raudenbush, Elisa Russell, Devin Shaffer, Allie Taylor, Anika Zempleni, and Jani Zubkovsalso contributed to a digital brochure, having had the opportunity to research individual artworks in person and in the 51勛圖's archives. The brochure will be published on this page in May 2024.

As described by the student-curators: Photography for Rauschenberg was like an act of excavation of the textures, surfaces, and patterns perceived in the surrounding world: a generative archive that documented his visual discoveries of "complex facts."
